Community Involvement

Dodson and Associates, P.C., is proud of its service to the community and the bar.

Rocco A. Dodson is a board member on the Governing Board of Directors of the Metro Volunteer Lawyers of the Colorado Bar Association. Metro Volunteer Lawyers provides free and low-fee legal services to individuals who otherwise could not afford a lawyer.

He was a member of the Legal Services Committee of the Denver Bar Association from 1998 to 2000. The Legal Services Committee coordinates and promotes efforts within the organized bar that provide and increase the availability of legal services to individuals who might otherwise not be able to obtain or afford legal services.

He has been honored with Pro Bono Awards from the Colorado Supreme Court every year since 2008, and the Colorado Bar Association in 1986, 1997 and 2005, for his outstanding contributions in pro bono services.

The firm supports Peruvian Hearts, a charitable non-profit organization that seeks to enhance the quality of life and educational opportunities for young girls in Cuzco, Peru. The firm also supports AfricAid, a charitable non-profit organization that provides needed educational opportunities for young girls in Tanzania, Africa. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Nonprofit Loan Fund since 1988 and has served as the president and chairman of the Board of Directors. The Fund makes short-term bridge loans to non-profit organizations to enable them to remain in business while awaiting grants and other permanent funding.

He is an active member of the Evergreen, Colorado Rotary Club since 2001, and is actively involved with its international service committee, which supports projects in Latin America, Africa and other parts of the world.

He was the Chairperson of the Pro Bono Committee, Fairfield and Woods, P.C., from 1988 to 1997. He managed and supervised the firm’s free legal work for indigent clients and non-profit organizations.

He was a member of the Civil Case Management Subcommittee of the Bench/Bar Relations Committee of the Denver Bar Association from 1990 to 1996. This Committee worked to improve the efficiency of civil litigation and to improve communication between the Denver District Court Judges and the Denver Bar.

He was a member of the Underwriting Committee for the Barristers Ball fund raiser for the Denver Bar Association Pro Bono Program from 1994 to 1997.

He was a coach for youth softball from 2000 to 2002, for youth baseball from 1989 to 1997, and for youth soccer from 1989 to 1993.

Mr. Dodson regularly takes pro bono cases, representing individuals for no fee when they cannot otherwise afford legal services. He has done so since he began practicing law in 1981.
